Mike joined the Royal School Manchester Governing Body in October 2020 as parent Governor as his son, Rory attends Royal School Manchester.

Mike works for the National Trust heading up their commercial business in the North West covering Retail, Food and Beverage and Membership services at some iconic locations such as Quarry Bank Mill, Dunham Massey, little Moreton Hall and Lyme Park.

Mike is local to the area and grew up in Wilmslow, attending Wilmslow Grammar School as it was then and Stockport College of higher Education where he achieved an HND in Business Studies. His first time at the school was as a boy of ten attending swimming lessons in the evening in the school pool before Wilmslow leisure centre was built and it is a wonderful story that over 40 years on Mike can support the school in the next stage of its development.

Mike is partner to Joanne and is a father to five children and although three of them are now grown up, the development and welfare of children has long been a passion without previously having the time to use his skills and expertise to support that process.

The National Trust motto is forever for everyone and that sums up Mike’s outlook on diversification and all children’s right to maximise their life and learn those all-important life skills along the way.

Ever since Mike first walked through the doors at RSM he felt the passion, care, dedication and love there is for all the students and a team that is pulling together to enrich the lives of all those who pass through the school. Mike is looking forward to contributing in his role as a parent governor in maintaining and building on the very special atmosphere that exists at this most wonderful of places.
