Seashell Trust Safeguarding Board
In March 2010 the first Safeguarding Board was held at the Seashell Trust this group is made up of Seashell Trust Directors, senior managers from school, college, residential areas including domiciliary and Stockport Child Protection and Protection of Vulnerable Adults Managers and Safeguarding Officer for Greater Manchester Police. It is chaired by Director David Sanders.
The group review recent cases of safeguarding issues across the Trust to ensure that there is good practice. There are three annual meetings.
Each meeting randomly chooses three cases to audit to ensure that all processes have been appropriately followed and recorded.
All safeguarding issues are referred to Stockport Child protection or Protection of Vulnerable Adults Managers; if they decide to take the case the Head of Safeguarding Services and other pertinent staff attend all strategy meetings. If Social Services do not take the case their advice is always adhered to
All cases are referred to the Care Quality Commission and/or Ofsted as appropriate
Safeguarding training for all staff
Safeguarding training is part of the induction training for all new staff.
In 2010 all residential, maintenance cleaning and domestic staff received training in child protection and Protection of Vulnerable Adults. There is a rolling cycle of training to ensure that all staff including volunteers throughout the Trust receive annual training appropriate to their role.
In addition all residential staff receive annual Child Protection, Protection of Vulnerable Adult training by Stockport Social Services.
All managers received Safeguarding Achieving Best Evidence training
Parents and Guardians
Parents and Guardians will receive an annual presentation on Safeguarding procedures at the school and college at the termly coffee morning; they will also receive a booklet explaining the procedures and staff roles and responsibilities regarding safeguarding procedures for their information. Parents and guardians who because of prior commitments or distance cannot attend the coffee morning are posted the booklet for their information.
