Testimonials

We have a number of great indivdulas, groups and schools that kindly give up their time to help both with fundraisng and volunteering at Seashell Trust, read below to see some of the reasons why they have chosen to support our charity.

Ian Hawsworth. Volunteer and Fundraiser

“My reasons for becoming a volunteer at the Seashell trust were numerous, but based on the overwhelming feeling that doing voluntary work for an organisation who supports people and enables them to live fuller lives, to participate in all manner of activities, and to integrate with society is a wonderfully fulfilling thing to do. My fundraising is an extension of that work, combining it with my love of sport and competition, health and fitness. My motivation to do well is centred on providing opportunities for others who are less fortunate than myself. I have competed in the last two Bupa Great Manchester 10k Runs raising funds in the region of £800. I have been a volunteer with disabilities for the past 14 years and am now working as a disabilities support worker and disabilities swimming teacher.”

Lynn Lang, Enrichment Officer - Wilmslow High School

“Wilmslow High School became involved with the Seashell Trust in 2006 and during the past four years the students have volunteered their personal time to work within various positions at the trust which helped them develop their skills and gain valuable experience.

In 2009 the Seashell Trust was nominated as the Sixth Form’s Charity Of The Year. They began fundraising and have held events including a fantastic Fashion Show.

The Seashell Trust fundraising team have supported us throughout the partnership giving us ideas and advice when we’ve needed it. Our partnership with the Seashell Trust has been a very positive experience for our students and we hope to continue our wonderful relationship into the future.”

Mike Wakefield, Cub Leader and Jane Evans, Beaver Leader -  The 1st Gatley Beaver and Cub Scouts

“The 1st Gatley Beaver and Cub Scouts have been supporting the Seashell Trust over the last year. We have organised a sponsored walk to raise money for the students and we have also volunteered at their Summer Fair and helped at their Bag Pack. The cubs have enjoyed learning some sign language and we are planning a joint sports session with the students. Volunteering, helping others and participating in the community are important aspects of scouting, and we are very grateful to the Seashell Trust for providing a great opportunity for the Beavers and Cubs to experience this. Our young people are also gaining a useful awareness of the lives and needs of people with disabilities, and communication difficulties in particular.  We have really enjoyed supporting Seashell Trust, have found it to be worthwhile and very rewarding, and look forward to continuing to support the students in the future!”
