We were delighted to welcome The Hallé Orchestra for a full-day event at Seashell this week, as part of the Alison Wilkinson Hallé in Residence. The residency recognises Alison Wilkinson’s many years as a trustee for the Evans Arts Trust, which has generously supported our programme with The Hallé.
To celebrate another fantastic term at Seashell, this special event featured several performances from the orchestra throughout the day. In the morning, we enjoyed a relaxed performance with four members of The Hallé in the school Heart Space, where students were encouraged to singalong, dance, and engage with the performance as they wish.
In the afternoon, we had two incredible performances from the full orchestra in the Margaret Mason Hall, attended by special guests (including Margaret Mason herself and family), family members, staff and students.
The last performance of the day ended with a spectacular show from our School Rock Band, who played instruments alongside the orchestra to songs they have been practising in their music classes with teacher Greg. Thomas played the drum and provided vocals, Erin played the turntable, Imogen sang and Jasmine played the Soundbeam – a touch-free, electronic musical instrument that translates physical movement into sound.
