Our College Leavers’ Prom has received an extra little cash boost, thanks to a generous stranger.
It all happened after one of our Seashell staff members noticed a wallet on the floor outside the main gates. It had fallen from the top of a van as it drove away, so the staff member pulled over to collect it and reunite it with its owner.
After visiting two police stations, both of which were closed, they were determined not to give up. They drove out of their way to the address listed on the ID, where a family member lived. After a few phone calls, the owner of the wallet was contacted, and they were very grateful for our staff member’s kindness.
They insisted that our staff member take a cash reward for returning the wallet, but they politely declined. Instead, they offered to donate it to a charity of their choice – and £200 was given towards our College prom fund!
“I wasn’t returning the wallet for any kind of reward, but I’m really grateful for the donation which we can use towards decorations for our prom. We sent them a thank you letter to show our appreciation.”
