It’s #InternationalWomensDay! We want to take some time to celebrate some of our inspiring women at Seashell.

Kate Duggan, Chief Operating Officer

Kate started as a Lead Speech and Language Therapist eight years ago, exploring creative ways to enable our children and young people to effectively communicate.

“Since joining Seashell in 2017 I have loved working here,” said Kate.

“In November I started a newly created role of Chief Operating Officer, which has been a fantastic opportunity to see broadly across the organisation and the many different ways we transform the lives of children and young adults with the most complex needs.”

“I am so thankful that Seashell has empowered me as a woman in a senior leadership role in my area of passion, whilst also being mum to two young boys!

“The opportunities the charity creates, not only for its children and young adults, but also staff are amazing,” she added.

“I am humbled every day by our amazing workforce. It has been a privilege to be able to take on leadership roles in recent years, and work alongside other passionate leaders who are so committed to providing the best possible services for the people we support.”

We’re so inspired by your story Kate – thank you for everything you do!

Mollie, Fundraising and Engagement Ambassador

Mollie attended our Royal College Manchester and has since joined our fundraising team as our Fundraising and Engagement Ambassador. We chatted with Mollie about the women who inspire her and her experience at Seashell.

“My role model is my nanna,” said Mollie. “She looked after me when I was younger.”

“I’m also inspired by my mum, who is a nurse. When I ‘m older I want to help Deaf children and be a Deaf signer.”

Mollie is a fantastic Seashell advocate and her passion and confidence shines through when speaking at our fundraising events – encouraging people to support our mission.

“It feels really good to be in a team of mostly women,” she added. “I am so proud to be able to work for the charity that helped transform my life.”

Thanks for all your help Mollie – you’re an inspiration to us all!
