We’re looking for enthusiastic, passionate and positive Residential Support Worker Apprentices, that want to change the world, one life at a time.
At Seashell, our Residential Homes are purpose-built with a ‘home from home’ feel providing residential care to children and young people aged between 4 years to 25 years old. As an apprentice, you will work within one of the 17-homes, supporting the wider team to provide excellent person-centred care to our children and young adults.
Please note: If successful you will be required to attend an Apprenticeship Assessment Centre running on Wednesday 16th April 2025.
Whilst you work, you’ll also gain a qualification through our apprenticeship provider, The Growth Company. If you work within our Children’s service, you will gain a Level 4 Children, Young People and Family Practitioner qualification and if you work within our Young Adult’s service, you will gain a Level 3 Adult Social Care qualification.
Our apprenticeship programme runs for two years, and during that time you’ll receive unique training and support to work as a Residential Support Worker. You will also take part in a dedicated onsite study day each week, to support you to complete your assignments throughout your qualification.
You will follow the below shift pattern, completing 37.5 hours of work each week:
· 07.30am – 3pm (early shift)
· 2.30pm – 10pm (late shift)
Weekend work will be a requirement as part of this role so we are looking for someone who can be flexible with their time.
Your salary will be split into 12 monthly instalments across the year.
As a Seashell Apprentice Residential Support Worker, you will become part of an experienced and welcoming team and endeavour to develop warm and trusting relationships with our children and young people – no one day will be the same!

What we’re looking for:
- GCSE English and Maths grade A-C/grade 4 or above, or equivalent level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy is essential
If you cannot evidence Maths and English at these levels, we may need you to commit to completing a functional skills exam to level 2 standard prior to completion of the apprenticeship qualification.
The Recruitment Process
Step 1: Submit your CV via Indeed before the closing date
Step 2: Complete a short phone call with our Apprenticeship talent team, and we’ll notify you if you have made it to step 3.
Step 3: Attend the Apprenticeship Assessment Centre on Wednesday 16th April 2025. The apprenticeship Talent team will notify you within 3 days if you have been selected to complete an interview.
Step 4: If selected for interview, the apprentice talent team will arrange an onsite interview with you in the weeks following the assessment centre, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 9am and 3pm.
Apprentice Role and Responsibilities:
- Working directly with children and young people in a residential setting
- Assisting with daily routines including personal care, eating and drinking, mobility needs and supporting with access to social and community activities.
- Working with our children and young people and ensuring they thrive in a positive, nurturing, and safe environment.
- Assisting and understanding the development of our children and young people within our residential care.
- Observing and recording milestones against Seashells curriculum
- Ensure that all actions and decisions take consideration of the impact on our children, young people and families in accordance with Seashell Trust’s Core Values.
