Role Summary
We are currently recruiting an Assistant Manager for our Young Adults (19-25) service.
About Seashell Trust:
Originally founded in 1823, Seashell Trust is a nationally recognised and registered charity based in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport. The Trust comprises of the Royal School Manchester, the Royal College Manchester,17 bespoke Residential Care Homes and Outreach Health and Family Services. We provide expert Residential care and Education for children and young people with severe, profound, and complex learning difficulties and disabilities, sensory impairments and communication disorders and autism.
Our fantastic services are based all on one-site at Cheadle Hulme, which deepens our sense of community for our children and young people and the Seashell team.
About our Residential Homes:
At Seashell our Residential Homes are purpose-built with a ‘home from home’ feel providing residential care to children and young people aged between 4 years to 25 years old. We provide a creative, happy, and secure environment for our children and young people with complex needs and additional communication challenges from across the UK. We can provide 24-hour care, weekly and termly boarding, and 52-week placement. Our children’s and young adults residential homes are currently rated ‘Good’ with OFSTED and CQC and we are aiming for ‘Outstanding’ in our next inspection.
Key responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager in the effective and efficient management of the homes and deputise in their absence, taking responsibility for the management of the service, including the staff team, practice, budget, resources and the welfare of the young adults.
- Ensure that all practices are developed and performed within the organisational policies and procedures and the legislative framework pertaining to young adults.
- Manage and establish effective communication and working practices with young adults, staff, relatives, external agencies and other professionals
- Support the Registered Manager and drive the residential team to meet the key strategic priorities of the service
- The role will be part of the management on-call rota and flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
Requirements
- Relevant qualification, NVQ Level 3 / 4 Health & Social Care, Desirable Level 5
- Extensive knowledge and experience of working with young adults with learning disabilities and complex needs in a residential setting
- Previous experience in a management role in a care setting
- Strong knowledge of CQC Essential Standards for Homes for young adults
- Experience of rota management
- Ability and commitment to manage and support staff to enable cohesive and effective working through team empowerment
- Ability, commitment and confidence to challenge staff performance and practices and performance manage staff as and when required
- Ability to work on your own initiative, within agreed procedures, parameters and in line with business priorities
