Why You’ll Love This Role…
At Seashell, we provide care and education for children and young adults with severe, profound, and complex learning difficulties and disabilities, sensory impairments, communication disorders, and autism.
CADS is Seashell’s inclusive sport and activity programme and has been providing opportunities for children with profound and multiple learning difficulties for over 20 years.
Delivered during school holidays, and more regularly as weekly Saturday sessions, CADS is one of very few provisions that is able to offer one-to-one support for participants.
Joining our CADS team means becoming part of something truly special. Every day, you’ll help create joyful, inclusive experiences that empower children with complex needs to thrive. It’s more than just a job — it’s a chance to make a real difference in the lives of others, and to be part of a team that’s passionate, supportive, and proud of the incredible work we do.
Working Hours – Part-Time:
During these times, you’ll support each young person in engaging with sports and activities, helping them to participate, build confidence, and enjoy their time at CADS.
- Saturday CADS: 09:15 – 13:15
- Holiday CADS:
- Tuesday: 08:30 – 15:30
- Wednesday: 09:00 – 15:30
Interview & Onboarding Process:
- Interviews will be held online or in person.
- Following a successful interview, you’ll be invited to visit one of our CADS sessions on Saturday 13th September 2025.
- If appointed, you must attend the mandatory paid CADS Training Course on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th October 2025 to complete the role.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Arriving on site and reviewing key documents: “All About Me” profiles, health and medical needs, support plans, characteristics and behaviours and PBS plans.
- Staying with your assigned child throughout the session, encouraging participation in activities, and using communication strategies such as “Now and Next” boards and 5-minute timelines.
- Administering rescue medications if required.
- Supporting children in activities including swimming and providing personal care such as feeding and drinking.
- Working collaboratively with Team Leaders and the CADS Coordinator to deliver inclusive and enjoyable events
Due to the nature of the children and young adults we support, personal care is an element of this role.
Applicants under the age of 18 will not be required to carry out personal care duties and will remain under supervision.
About You:
- Experience or ability to deliver high standards of care and act as a role model.
- Proven teamwork skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Willingness to learn and support children with complex needs.
- Experience with children with multi-sensory impairments or complex learning difficulties either personal or professional is preferred, however full training is provided
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role (e.g., lifting, bending, working on the floor, pushing wheelchairs).
Qualifications:
- GCSE A–C in English and Maths (or equivalent Level 2 literacy and numeracy)
- Level 1 or 2 in Sport/Fitness or Health/Social Care (preferred)
