Here at Seashell, we provide care and education for children and young people with severe, profound and complex learning difficulties and disabilities, sensory impairment, communication disorders, and autism.
We are currently seeking a passionate and personable Catering Manager to join our diligent facilities team at our Cheadle Hulme campus.
As Catering Assistant you’ll provide a catering service for Seashell Students, staff and visitors.
This will include the daily preparation of student lunches to meet individual dietary and preparation requirements in our amazing, newly built kitchen and dining rooms.
You’ll help prepare a varied and healthy selection of food that is both attractive to our students and allows them to make independent choices.
What are the hours?
- 27.5 hours per week
- Monday to Friday 9.00 am – 2.30pm, 5.5 hours a day
- This position is term time only as the role provides catering support for a school and college
Responsibilities
- Undertake all kitchen duties to highest standard against Service Levels agreed with relevant departments.
- Provide a customer focussed service to students and Trust staff
- Sort, monitor and record food and deliveries that comes into the kitchen to ensure it is correctly categorised and stored
- Operate kitchen equipment in line with training and manufacturer’s instructions
- Ensure all kitchen equipment and materials are secured during and at the end of shift
- Support emergency and deep clean cleaning requirements from time to time as directed by line manager
- Attend and undertake learning and development to fulfil role and/or legal requirements
- Promote safe working practices in job and in others
- Good general education (Level 2 numeracy and literacy)
- Level 2 Food Hygiene (or commitment to achieving this)
- Deaf Awareness and basic sign language course (or commitment to achieving this)
- Willingness to undertake other training relevant to the role
What we’re looking for;
- Previous experience working in a busy kitchen environment
- Basic food preparation and service of food
- A genuine interest in working with children and young people with complex needs and communication difficulties
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures and systems
- The ability to meet the physical demands of the post which require substantial activity around the site that includes walking, standing, lifting, bending, loading and operating kitchen equipment
- Reliability and ability to fulfil contracted hours
- High standards of hygiene
- Clean and tidy appearance
- Customer centred focus and attitude
