Are you an experienced Mental Health Nurse who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex emotional or behavioural needs? At Seashell Trust, you’ll join a nationally recognised charity providing integrated health, care and education services for individuals with complex needs.
As a Mental Health Nurse, you’ll work as part of our Outstanding-rated CQC-registered Health Team, delivering specialist mental health nursing support across our school, college, residential homes and wider multidisciplinary services. You will provide high‑quality assessment, formulation, intervention and care coordination for young people with complex mental health needs, helping them, their families and carers achieve positive and meaningful outcomes.
As a Mental Health Nurse, you will:
- Provide specialist mental health assessments using a range of clinical tools, observations and semi‑structured interviews
- Manage a complex caseload and develop evidence‑based formulations and intervention plans
- Act as care coordinator, ensuring coordinated, individualised support involving families, carers, staff and external professionals
- Deliver mental health and behavioural interventions, adapting approaches to meet complex communication and cognitive needs
- Work collaboratively within a strong multi‑disciplinary team including Nursing, Therapy and Behaviour Support
- Contribute to multi‑agency meetings, case reviews and transition planning
- Maintain high‑quality clinical records and contribute to audit, clinical governance and service evaluation
- Provide training, advice and consultation to staff teams working with children and young people
What We’re Looking For:
- NMC Registered Nurse
- Significant post-qualified experience in Mental Health settings
- Strong interest in special educational needs and disability (SEND)
- Experience in assessment, planning, delivery and review of care
- Knowledge of safeguarding, MCA, and child/adolescent development
- Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively across services
- Excellent communication, emotional intelligence, and IT skills
