We have a really exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate individual to join our well-established Seashell Active team as a Physical Activity Development Officer. This role sits within our dynamic and inclusive health and wellbeing provision, which includes sport, recreation, and physical activity services designed to support children and young people with complex needs.
As part of our strategic growth, Seashell is investing in innovative early assessment and intervention services, and inclusive physical activity is central to this vision. The Physical Activity Development Officer will play a key role in launching and managing our inclusive cycle track, helping to embed cycling into the lives of our students, residents, and wider community.
The Physical Activity Development Officer role is a unique opportunity to:
- Work as part of a team to provide fully inclusive and accessible physical activity opportunities for children, young people and adults with a wide variety of disabilities and complex needs
- Work to ensure the full operations of a sports and physical activity department, including cycling
- Safely operate the leisure facilities as part of a team and ensure the safety of all users
- Develop and affiliate Community climbing Clubs by engaging diverse communities, supporting existing groups, and initiating new community-focused initiatives
- Identify and facilitate opportunities for Community Climbing Clubs to operate from Seashell’s new inclusive climbing wall
- Deliver physical activity sessions to people of all ages with disabilities and health conditions, in line with the needs of Seashell Active
- Actively promote healthy lifestyles to seashell trust students, residents, staff and users from the local community
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in project planning, community engagement, and delivering physical activity initiatives
- Strong organisational, interpersonal, and administrative skills
- Ability to set own priorities and deliver within tight timescales
- Ability to build constructive relationships with colleagues and external partners
- Knowledge of inclusive programmes, health improvement, and active travel campaigns
Desirable:
- Degree or equivalent in Sports and Leisure
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities and complex needs
- Volunteer engagement and development experience
- Experience using leisure management systems
