Seashell has a new opportunity for a Registered Manager to join our Children’s Residential Service.
Seashell is a charitable trust with a heritage that stretches over 200 years. We support children and young adults with severe, profound and complex learning disabilities, sensory impairments and additional communication, physical and health needs from across the UK. We provide care and education, for children aged 3-18 years old and young adults aged 19-25 years of age.
Seashell is also home to an ‘Outstanding’ School, College and Children’s Short Breaks Home and a ‘Good’ Young Adults’ residential service (consisting of 10 homes).
Role Summary
The Registered Manager will hold the registration for Children’s Home with Ofsted. The Children’s Home currently consists of four separate houses, all located on one site. There is currently an occupancy of 9 children residing across the 4 homes, 4 of whom are preparing for adulthood and will be transitioning out of the service by August 2025.
As Registered Manager you will be working within the Statutory Legislation as set out within the Care Standards Act 2000 and the Children’s Home regulations (2015) and Quality Standards. This role will assure the quality of care delivered and that the service is fully compliant with Ofsted’s regulatory social care common inspection framework (SCCIF) and any additional legislation.
Summary
- Responsibility for service delivery, managing and supervising the Assistant Manager to ensure the smooth running of operations over 24 hrs
- Direct line management of 5 Assistant Managers in the service
- Establish and enforce the standards expected of the service
- Triangulated care planning approaches
- Clear line of sight between statutory regulation and organisational policy
- Highest standards of professional practice are maintained and reviewed frequently
- Participating in operational projects to champion continuous service improvement
Requirements
- Significant knowledge and experience (min. 5yrs) of working within one of more of the following environments: learning disabilities, complex needs, autism, health and mental health as a Registered Manager or Operational Manager under the Children’s Home Regulations and Ofsted Quality Standards
- Experience of Positive Behaviour Management support systems and processes
- Experience of rota management
- Desire to promote and influence a culture of reflective practice and continuous improvement
- Experience of implementing and managing quality assurance procedures
- Extensive knowledge and experience of safeguarding and child / vulnerable adult protection
- Flexibility to be part of an on-call rota
