Mollie's Story

When Mollie was born prematurely, her parents weren’t sure what that would mean for their daughter. They soon found out she had cerebral palsy – a condition which varies from person to person but affects movement and coordination.

Mollie’s cerebral palsy means she cannot use her arms and legs as well as her friends and family, but that has never held Mollie back.

Although greatly supported by other charities and schools, it was when Mollie found Seashell in 2019 that she really felt at home. As her dad Ciaran says, “Seashell wrapped it’s arms around us….Seashell is part of our extended family”.

Able to thrive and develop in a way her family didn’t know was possible, when it came to Mollie’s graduation her parents were unsure what would happen next, and were concerned their daughter’s progress would now slow without a Seashell education.

But thankfully, she was able to remain in the Seashell family – becoming a Fundraising and Engagement Ambassador with Seashell’s Fundraising Team. The part-time role sees Mollie meeting with supporters and potential donors to tell them about Seashell – speaking from the heart about her lived experience as a student and staff member. She is always passionate when speaking about Seashell and seems to engage with people from all ages and backgrounds.

We’re so proud to have Mollie as part of our team and would like to share more with you in this video…

We've got so much out of working with Mollie...she has shown us what being resilient truly means.
