We’re excited to announce that Seashell has joined the world of Direct Debits – meaning it’s even simpler to make a continuous difference to our work.

Direct Debits are an essential part of charity fundraising and help us to generate budget for day-to-day items and services as well as bigger projects.

We’re so proud we’re able to offer our supporters this service and give you even more options for how to support Seashell.

Here are a few reasons why setting up a Direct Debit for charity is so meaningful.

Reasons to Set up a Direct Debit for Charity

Forecasting

It helps us to know where our money is coming in so we can budget effectively. Having a Direct Debit payment set up means that, unless the instruction is cancelled, donations remain consistent throughout the year. This helps us know what we’ll be getting in and therefore what we can spend it on!

Reduced Administration Costs

While we are very appreciative of cheques, cash and standing orders, some of these methods can be very time consuming to process. With more automated and reliable Direct Debit collections, charities like ours can reduce the amount of time spend on admin, so we can focus more on fun things like our fundraising calendar (skydive anyone?).

Convenience for YOU

Direct Debts run themselves – once you set one up you don’t have to worry about it anymore. Direct Debits are automatically collected each month, so you don’t need to add your donation to your long to-do list!

Gift Aid

This is such a big win for charities! Gift Aid is essential for charities and leads to a boost in donations by 25%. When you set up a Direct Debit you can fill in the Gift Aid information and an additional 25% will come to Seashell. This comes at no extra cost to the donor but means for every £1 you donate, Seashell will receive an extra 25p. And all the pennies add up!

Lower Transaction Costs

Although transaction costs paid by Seashell are unavoidable, some methods of donation work out cheaper than others. Direct Debit fees are generally lower, meaning more of your donation can be spent where it is needed most – on Seashell students, services and projects!

Things your Direct Debit Could Help Provide

£5 per month – could fund a range of fun activities for a young person attending our short breaks programme, giving their family vital respite.

£10 per month – could fund vital sports equipment for our inclusive activity and sports camps.

£20 per month – could fund outdoor furniture and toys to make our residential accommodation a home from home.
