Read on to find out more about our approach to wellbeing.

Promoting wellness in schools

Here at Seashell, we’ve been promoting health and wellness in schools for years. It’s our firm belief that a holistic approach to health and wellbeing, providing ample opportunities for disabled children and young people to get active, is crucial to help our students and the wider community to live happier, healthier lives. This is precisely why we introduced Seashell Active, the health and wellbeing arm of our charity.

Seashell Active delivers a huge range of inclusive sports, wellbeing, health and leisure activities for learning disabilities. Available for students, staff, and the wider community, our activities provide high-quality opportunities for disabled children and young people. Activities like our programme of inclusive sports strengthen relationships between students, staff and the community in a safe, fun and inclusive environment.

Wellness at Seashell

When it comes to promoting wellness in schools, we practice what we preach. We already have some of the UK’s best equipment and facilities for people with complex learning disabilities and additional needs. However, with planning permission secured for a new £50 million school and campus, our provisions are about to get even better. This means we can further improve the learning outcomes and quality of life of the children and young people we work with.

Here are just some of the world-class health and wellbeing facilities we currently offer:

CADS Programme

Our CADS programme of health and wellbeing activities gives children and young people aged four to 25 the chance to try out a huge variety of sports and hobbies. From swimming and climbing to football, gym and art, we have something for everyone across our weekend, holiday and specialised party sessions.

Swim School

The Seashell Swim School gives children of all abilities aged four and above the chance to enjoy the water and gain a valuable life skill in the process. We offer a range of options from our Cheadle Hulme site, including 1-to-1 or group swimming lessons, relaxed Seashell Splash leisure swims, and family swim sessions.

Health and Fitness

At the Seashell, we offer an array of health and fitness options. Our accessible fitness suite provides specialist equipment and staff trained to deliver exercise programmes for young people with disabilities. We also offer Aqua fit pool-based exercise classes and Aqua 4 health relaxed swim sessions.
