We believe every young person deserves the chance to enjoy sport and physical activity. That’s why we are proud to partner with Sport England’s Place Partnership, Stockport Council, and local organisations to make sport more inclusive.
We know many local clubs want to be more inclusive, but sometimes lack the confidence or know-how to make it happen. So, we tested a new approach: combining practical training with ongoing coaching and mentoring to help organisations embed inclusive practices for the long term.
We worked with fantastic partners like Life Leisure, ACE, and local Holiday Activity & Food (HAF) providers to deliver tailored training on autism, ADHD, and inclusive coaching. We supported providers with action plans, observations, and family feedback to turn learning into action.
Inclusion is now firmly on the agenda at Life Leisure, with staff making practical changes to support SEND children in mainstream activities. Local coaches have gained new skills and confidence, and we’ve built strong relationships across Stockport’s community sport network. We’re excited to expand this model to more HAF providers, strengthen feedback and evaluation, and keep building partnerships that champion inclusive opportunities for every child.
