We are delighted that Seashell has recently been in the spotlight on a number of news channels for our excellent work.

Firstly, we had former student Harry taking centre stage, when he was interviewed by Granada Reports about his work in Seashell’s Maintenance Team. We were delighted to welcome camera crews on site to see what Harry’s responsibilities are in his work and Seashell. The reporter also spoke to Nikki Brown from Royal College Manchester about our Employability Pathway and how students like Harry can benefit from work experiences opportunities.

You can read more about the report and watch Harry’s story on the Granada website. It was later picked up by BBC and also shared on their website here.

We’ve also done our own special video all about Harry and his amazing achievements which you can view here.

We then celebrated the opening of our new Ged Mason Building and were delighted to share the news with the press. We had coverage in Marketing Stockport and were delighted to welcome in BBC reporter Richard Stead, who spoke to College Ambassadors Laneyle and Sam and College staff members Aine Hickey and Ruth Elliott.

You can read the BBC write up here and listen to the radio broadcast in the video below.

The BBC then returned to us again for Social Care Week and reporter Richard Stead spoke to Seashell’s CEO Brandon Leigh and our Employability Lead Nikki Brown. This time, the interviews focussed on how investing in young people now will lead to better outcomes in future. We were able to tell the BBC all about Seashell’s work to help young adults progress into either employment opportunities or ready them for adult lives where they are more fulfilled.

We were then delighted to hear from the students at Utter Radio – the University of Salford’s speech-based radio station. They held a 24-hour broadcast to raise funds for Seashell and raised over £900 for us.

As part of the 24-hour broadcast, the station played out video clips and messages from Seashell on their YouTube channel. They also spoke to Emma Wright from our Marketing Team.

We then had a busy weekend with our Strictly Seashell event and were happy to see the fundraiser covered by Manchester Evening News and InYourArea.

And finally, we loved to share with you the amazing news when we celebrated with Laltex when they were given a Kings Award. The team there are dedicated supporters of Seashell and many of our former students have gone on to paid employment with Laltex as well as current students doing work experience there.

It’s been a busy time and we hope to share more Seashell in the News posts very soon!
