We were delighted to be part of The Brit Fest 2026 this month – enjoying the title of Event Charity Partner.
The festival, which was held at Ashley Hall Showground, saw a record 35,000 people attending. This meant great promotion for Seashell and the potential to raise awareness of our cause to thousands of people.
We had staff and volunteers manning a stand and selling raffle tickets, our films and charity information were shown on the big screens, festival goers were encouraged to add a donation when buying tickets, we had a special song dedicated to us by Doctor and the Medics and our students enjoyed a piece of the limelight on stage with hosts Mike Toolan and Jenny Powell. We also had a special safe space for people with sensory needs to enjoy the festival in a quieter area and students helped staff with the big tidy up.
Festival organisers Anthony and Ed Prophet also generously offered free weekend tickets to Seashell staff and many of them took the opportunity to switch off from work and enjoy acts such as Cast, Happy Mondays, Jason Donovan, Holly Johnson, Let Loose, Space, Eternal and ABC.

This is the second time we have been Charity Partner for The Brit Fest, which this year ran from Friday 3 July to Sunday 5 July.
Event Co-Founder Anthony Prophet said: “We were so proud to once again have Seashell as our Charity Partner. Seashell are amazing. They get so involved in this project – not just from a fundraising perspective but the students attended, the mascot Buddy came along, and the staff came along too. We also had students helping with the litter pick over the weekend.
“Seashell are embedded in the festival community. It was a full collaborative effort and we were delighted to work with Seashell again.”
On the Saturday Doctor and the Medics lead singer Clive Jackson dedicated his last song of their set, Spirit in the Sky, to Seashell.
As he sang, a montage of footage and details of how to text donate, were played across the screen.
Clive told festival-goers: “Seashell is a special place for children and young adults who need very special care. It is my absolute privilege to go there and meet some of these wonderful people.
“I’m dedicating this song to all the carers and teachers… all the wonderful people who make such a difference to these children and young people’s lives. This is for you, you angels.”
