Buddy Bear has been Seashell’s mascot since 2025.
Buddy is a valued member of Team Seashell, embodying the spirit of warmth, inclusion and support for our students. As our official mascot, Buddy plays a crucial role in maintaining a welcoming and supportive environment.
With an extensive background in entertainment and children’s services, Buddy joined Seashell in early 2025, where their name was chosen by a panel of students and staff. Not only does Buddy mean friendship and companionship, but the B and D sounds are easier for some of our pre-verbal students to pronounce.
Buddy brings joy and community spirit to our campus with their signature dungarees and friendly demeanour, regularly attending both internal and external events to represent the organisation.
Buddy has their own version of a PODD book, where they can use pictures and words to express basic needs and answers. Many of our students use communication devices like these, and this allows Buddy to be representative and inclusive of our community.
Buddy’s decision to join Seashell was driven by a personal belief in empowering children and young people and making a positive, lasting impact on their lives.
