Lynn joined the Board in July 2021, having served on the Royal School Manchester Governing Body since January 2012, chairing the Curriculum Committee and representing Governors on the Trust’s Safeguarding Board.  Lynn is also the Chair of Royal School Manchester and Royal College Manchester Governors since September 2021.

Lynn’s personal background is in education. Having completed her doctorate in developmental psychology, she trained as a primary teacher and worked in schools that faced very challenging circumstances. For a number of years she worked as part of a Local Authority team to support the senior leadership of schools who were in either Serious Weaknesses or Special Measures. Following this, she took a headship of a large primary school.

After the headship she moved to manage a team of colleagues who provided work-based training to the wider children’s workforce, as well as delivering education to young people who were unable to attend mainstream provision.

More recently she worked in Stockport Local Authority for 4 years as their Senior Adviser for Safeguarding in Education, and it was in this capacity that she first encountered Seashell Trust. Lynn has continued working within Stockport Local Authority,  more latterly as a Senior School Improvement Officer advising and supporting primary schools across the borough. She is currently the Head of School Effectiveness in Stockport.
