After graduating from Cambridge University in 1994 with a degree in Natural Sciences, Elanor joined AstraZeneca on their Commercial Graduate scheme. She has since held a variety of roles in blue-chip pharmaceutical and innovative biotech companies, including as Global Commercial Strategist and European Marketing Director. She holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with distinction from Ashridge Management College. Since 2007 Elanor has founded two separate consulting companies, Kortland Consulting Ltd and Mindful Health Insights Ltd, offering strategy development, commercial analysis and market research solutions. She enjoys working in varied business environments, helping companies develop effective strategies and plans that support the delivery of their goals.
Elanor has a long-standing interest in the mental health and wellbeing space, having trained as a Mindfulness teacher in 2007, a Yoga teacher in 2019 and a Zen Meditation teacher in 2022. She regularly volunteers to lead sessions and courses in the community, including for those who are neurodiverse or have mental health issues, which is a subject she is passionate about. She has trained as a crisis counsellor supporting those at imminent risk of suicide, self-harm, depression and abuse, as well as in neurodiversity-informed and trauma-informed practice.
Elanor has previously been a Governor at her son’s primary school, where she also held the role of Vice-Chair of Governors. She looks forward to working with the Trust in a similar capacity, especially in supporting the vital work they do for children and young adults with complex disabilities and needs.
Elanor grew up in Cheadle Hulme and now lives in Woodford with her husband. She enjoys step aerobics, Zumba, and learning Portuguese, as well as acting as sous-chef to her husband who is “a far better cook than she is.”
