Kai joined the Board of Directors in February 2022.

Kai is a paediatrician by background, but quite early on in her career developed an interest in paediatric audiology. Kai came to the UK in 1998 as a Wellcome Trust Research Fellow to do my PhD in Audiological Medicine. After completing her thesis, Prof John Bamford invited her to work with him on the evaluation of the NHS Newborn Hearing Screening Programme (NHSP) in England. Her research interest is primarily in Auditory Neuropathy Spectrum Disorder primarily in infants, but also in adult patient populations.

Kai is the Teaching Lead at the Manchester Centre for Audiology & Deafness as well as the Programme Director for the Scientist Training Programme in Neurosensory Science and an academic lead for Higher Specialist Scientific Training in Audiological Science at the University of Manchester.
