Lorraine has dedicated nearly four decades to supporting children and young people with severe, complex, and additional needs. After qualifying as a specialist teacher in 1986, she began her career in Ealing before moving to Park Lane School in Macclesfield in 1990. She taught pupils across early years, primary, and secondary settings, led Behaviour Support across the school, and developed extensive experience working with families and multidisciplinary teams.
In 2003, Lorraine became Deputy Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead at Park Lane School, before being appointed Headteacher in 2010. She remained in this leadership role until her retirement in 2024. Since retiring, she has continued her commitment to special education by volunteering one day a week at Royal School Manchester.
Lorraine is motivated to become a Governor at Royal School Manchester because of her lifelong passion for ensuring children and young people with complex needs receive the highest quality education, care, and support. Drawing on her extensive experience in teaching, leadership, safeguarding, and working with families, she hopes to contribute to the continued success of Seashell Trust and support its mission of putting pupils and their needs at the heart of everything it does.
