Mike joined the Royal School Manchester Governing Board in June 2025, having worked at Seashell since 2021.

Mike first visited Seashell as a student from Salford University, where he was completing his Occupational Therapy degree placement in 2019. The placement made a huge impact on him, and when the opportunity arose to return, Mike was able to secure a position as part of the Occupational Therapy team.

Mike has worked since the age of 18 in a variety of settings, having had careers in Transport & Contract Distribution, Sales and Marketing within Estate Agency and a local newspaper. Mike then worked 17 years at a northwest vehicle conversion company supplying wheelchair access vehicles around the UK. He then completed my final change in life, switching to study and become an Occupational Therapist in pursuit of his real desire of making a difference.

Mike feels he has gained a wealth of knowledge, experience and skills during my working and personal life in various roles and workplaces.

Since working at Seashell, he has attempted to make the student the focus of everything he does – encouraging, coaching, challenging, advocating, advising, and providing opportunities to help the students flourish and achieve their best, whilst enabling them to find their place within society. He feels privileged to be part of a team that works diligently to promote our students and their families’ aspirations.
