Tri-Seashell is our inclusive triathlon designed specifically for children and young adults from the SEND community. Our goal is to create a dynamic and inclusive experience, where every participant can challenge themselves, celebrate their achievements and enjoy the thrill of sport in a supportive environment.
Saturday 1 August was our second-ever Tri-Seashell event, where participants could walk/run/wheel, cycle, and swim using our accessible facilities. We had three age brackets of participants ranging from ages five to 25+, with families cheering along from the sidelines.
Congratulations to all the participants, who received a special medal and personalised certificate from our mascot Buddy to celebrate their participation.
“I liked the cycling,” said one participant. “I liked that I could go up and down the hills, it was really amazing.”
Emily and Amelie’s Fundraiser
Emily and Amelie met at last year’s Tri-Seashell event, where they quickly became friends and have kept in touch ever since. The pair decided to compete in this year’s event together, all while raising over £1,600 for Seashell!

Last year, nine-year-old Emily ran her own fundraiser and raised over £1,000 to compete in the event.
Her mum Anna said: “She used to absolutely hate swimming. But she started having lessons at Seashell and she absolutely loves it.”
“It hasn’t just meant her swimming has improved, it has also changed her confidence. She looks forward to her lessons so much.”
Amelie also did swimming lessons at Seashell, and was so excited at the opportunity to give back.
“A real highlight for her was meeting Emily last year,” said Louise, Amelie’s mum.
“When you have communication difficulties it can be hard to form friendships, but they didn’t even need me to introduce them, they just go on so well. Amelie is naturally so giving and is such a supporter of other participants.”
“Amelie is competitive and events like this give her the opportunity to do it with her peers. When she learned she raised £1,000 she was so happy to give back to Seashell – it was like giving a gift to her!”
“A fun day out like this for £15 is amazing, we’d come every weekend if we could.”
