Supporting charities by donating your time and money is one of the most selfless things you can do. Not only is it incredibly rewarding, but it can also make a significant difference to the charity you are helping. However, it isn’t just individuals who can get behind a cause or charity.

Charity donations from companies can be a whole lot bigger and make an even more considerable impact. Charity donations from companies are not only beneficial to the cause being supported but also to the company itself.

Here at Seashell, we are dedicated to providing a creative, safe and enjoyable environment for children and young people with complex needs. Without charity donations from companies, we’d be unable to supply these crucial services. In this article, you’ll find out everything you need to know about corporate support, including how it can benefit everyone involved.

The benefits of charity donations from companies

We all know how important charities are and how much of a difference they can make in the lives of those in need. Therefore, many companies have decided to pick a charity of their choice to support and donate to. From multinational companies to small local businesses, all support from companies is much appreciated by charities, especially us here at Seashell.

When it comes to choosing a charity partner to support, you may want to find one that is close to your heart or meaningful to the people you work with. By finding a cause that you can all feel passionate about, you will find it a lot easier to get support from your colleagues and the company as a whole.

How can your company make a donation?

There are a number of ways that your company can get involved with charities. Whether that involves volunteering with them or donating money raised by fundraising activities.

Here are some of the ways we receive charity donations from companies at Seashell.

One option that is available to your company is to volunteer your skills, time, and expertise to our charity. We rely heavily on the kindness and goodwill of our volunteers who help us provide our services and achieve our goals. Donating your time is just as valuable to us as donating money, which is why we have a range of volunteering opportunities that you can choose from.

If your company is keen to support a frontline charity to care for and protect vulnerable young people, then you can start volunteering with children and young people with learning disabilities together.

Another option available to companies is the chance to get involved by sponsoring programmes or events that we host. In order to provide the children and young people we educate with the support and care they need at our residential schools, we have corporate partnerships to help give them the very best facilities.

Here at Seashell, we have wish lists of the equipment and items we need to improve the services we provide. So why not choose an item from our wish list, and then you will know exactly how you’ve helped our service users?

Our website has plenty of resources for you to find out more about our residential schools, Royal School Manchester and Royal College Manchester, and the support, education and care they provide.

How your workplace can get involved

If you’re a company looking to make charity donations and support our cause, then here are some of the main things you need to know.

Many companies do not realise that they can add corporate gift aid to their donations. This means that companies are entitled to tax relief on any charity donations that qualify. The donations made are paid without any deductions of income tax, and the donations are then deductible from the total profits of the company in the year the donation was made. This means that companies will not pay tax on that amount, and charities do not need to reclaim tax from HMRC after the donation has been made.

This isn’t the only benefit of charity donations from companies. Alongside the great feeling you will get from knowing that you and your company have made a significant difference to those we support at Seashell, you’ll also benefit in terms of team-building and PR opportunities.

Fundraising ideas for your company

  • Virtual challenges – number of steps/cycling challenges/quiz nights
  • Sponsored walks

However you decide to support a charitable cause or organisation, just remember that your time and money are both appreciated and play a huge role in helping the lives of others who need it most.
