Royal School Manchester students have been busy this term creating artwork for Manchester’s brand new youth art trail.

‘Window’s of Youth Creativity: We Made It!’ was created by Wild in Art and commissioned by Manchester City Council. It follows the huge success of the 2020 exhibition ’50 Windows of Creativity’ and features displays by young people across the city.

Seashell Trust’s exhibition is located at the Town Hall Annex, near Manchester Cenotaph and will be displayed from 22nd October until 27th November 2022.

The project features a tactile ‘under the sea’ theme and showcases original artwork from 53 of our remarkable students. A variety of textures, materials and colours have been used to create coral, fish and sea creatures for the magical underwater exhibition.

The coral bed has grown organically as students have created layers of unique textures using silk clay and foam clay. The mosaic sea creatures are a labour of love filled with fused glass tiles and seashells. A seashell crown has been created to commemorate our long serving patron, the late Queen Elizabeth II. Once the exhibition closes the artwork will return to Seashell, to be displayed within the new school building, not only to decorate the new environment, but to help students map out and navigate around the space when it opens in 2023.

“[this is a] striking pieces of artwork…tactile, colourful, simply wonderful! All very different. The coral is something else. Such great talent, a project of love.”
