Katherine is an Advanced Practitioner on the Employability Pathway at Seashell Royal College Manchester.
Katherine has worked at Seashell for over 10 years, starting off her career as a transition’s coordinator, then supported our work experience programme as a job coach. Katherine then became a teacher at the Trust in 2016, where she continued to grow her skill set and progress to a senior management position within the college.
Katherine has also worked in a variety of settings supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs who are at risk of not being in education, employment or training (NEET) and with the potential to offend, across care and educational settings.
Katherine started her career at university as a paediatric nurse at Sheffield Hallam University, then worked in the local areas supporting young people with complex care. Katherine then relocated to south Manchester with her family where she discovered her passion for support those young people who had many barriers to learning.
Katherine is passionate about supporting young people with learning difficulties into the world or work, offering them real life experiences with structured and specialist support. Katherine believes that all students should have the opportunity to work if they so wish and advocates for this within the college. Katherine works with a variety of employers to support our careers programme at Seashell.
Outside of work Katherine has two small children who keep her active and loves spending time outdoors. Katherine enjoys cooking and baking for friends and family. Katherine is also passionate around music and enjoys going to see shows and concerts with friends.
