Welcome to Royal School Manchester at Seashell Trust

We are a mixed day and residential school for children and young people between 2 and 19 years who have complex learning disabilities combined with significant communication difficulties including little or no oral language.

We have skills and expertise in meeting the needs of young people with one or more of the following conditions:

Autism spectrum conditions

Deablindness/multi-sensory impairment

Hearing impairment with additional needs

Profound and multiple learning disabilities

Auditory processing disorder

Hearing impairment including cortical visual impairment with additional needs

Additional medical needs including progressive and degenerative conditions

Total Communication

In order to meet the diverse needs of our learners we have adopted a total communication approach incorporating sign, speech, symbols (including PECS), objects of reference, photographs and real objects as appropriate to support the learning of the individual.  Communication underpins everything we do.

We offer a number of different placement types including:

Day Placement

Residential Placement: 38 weeks (weekly boarding Monday-Thursday);  38 weeks (termly boarding); 52 weeks

We also offer short break packages on site.
